Election should be held on holiday
Election should be held on holiday
From Jayakarta
The chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party had reason to reject the abbreviation Luber Jurdil (direct, public, free, secret, honest and just) in relation to the implementation of the general election (Jayakarta, Oct. 2, 1995).
In practice, there seems to be many deviations like acts of intimidation or putting on pressure. I have many clippings on such ill-practices. That's why the Indonesian Democratic Party wants the election to be held on a holiday. During the last APEC conference the government declared Nov. 14 and 15, 1994 public holidays in Jakarta. It is therefore logical to hold the general election, which is a national event, on a holiday.
The election would be better held inside neighborhoods to avoid misdeeds and to guarantee that all runs smoothly.
