Alleged thief burnt alive SEMARANG: Hadi Nuralim, 25, was burned alive by Basah village, in Banyumas regency, Central Java, after he was caught trying to steal a motorcycle on Sunday. Two alleged accomplices, Darsiman and Ratno, were saved from the mob by police. Both are in intensive care at Margono Hospital in Purwokerto. Antara reported that the three were about to steal a motorcycle belonging to Rojikun. However neighbors discovered them.

Obituary
Obituary Mashuri Saleh, a former minister of information and minister of education and culture, died at his house on Jl. Monumen 45 in Surakarta, Central Java, on Sunday evening. He was 75 years old. According to his family, Mashuri was suffering from a number of ailments, including cancer, and had been hospitalized several times. He is survived by his wife, four sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren.

At least three killed in fresh attack in Maluku AMBON, Maluku (JP): At least three people were killed in an attack on Kase village, Buru island, Maluku, on Sunday. The head of the Maluku Protestant Church Synod, Rev. Broery Hendriks, said he received reports the village had been attacked at about 11 a.m. "I reported this to the civil emergency leaders and they are handling it," he said.
