Cecep gets MI Norm

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian chess player National Master (MN) Cecep Kosasih grabbed his International Master (MI) Norm by collecting an additional two Match Points (MPs) at the Wotulo Memorial International Grand Master Chess Tournament on Saturday.

Cecep follows MI Danny Yuswanto, who reached his GM Norm last Thursday with 6.5 MPs from nine matches.

Cecep defeated Indonesian MN Prayitno Sugeng in the 39th move using a Hindu King opening in their 11th-round match.

Earlier in the morning, Cecep beat Grand Master (GM) Normunds Miezis of Latvia in their delayed eighth-round match. Cecep emerged victorious in the 82nd move using a British opening.

A National Master is promoted to an International Master Norm by reaching 6.5 MPs. (nvn)
