Ryan, Happy are RI's best bowlers

JAKARTA (JP): Two bowlers from the Permata Bowling Club, Ryan Leonard Lalisang and Happy Soediono, were recognized as the best men's and women's bowlers respectively at the First Indonesia Bowling Awards ceremony last Friday.

The awards, organized by sports journalists, had a total of eight categories. Permata BC and its bowlers were honored in five out of eight of these categories, as reported by Antara news agency.

Permata BC was declared the best bowling club, beating out FQ Bowling Club and Tiga Roda BC.

The fourth title earned by Permata BC was for best bowling trio, which was made up of Ran, Happy and Willem Wijaya. The fifth award the club received was for the most promising bowler, Sharon Adelina, who edged out Ivana Hanjaya of Millennium BC.

David Paruhun Sitorus was named the best coach above the other nominees of Indra Gondokusumo, Jimmy Lim and Poppy Tambis. Sitorus is currently preparing the Indonesian team for the Kuala Lumpur 2001 Southeast Asian Games.

In the award for favorite bowler, Putty Armein defeated sibling Haqi. Galeria Kosmic Kodel Bowling of Jakarta was named the best bowling lanes over Jaya Ancol Bowling Lanes in Jakarta and Planet Dago Bowling Center in Bandung. (nvn)
