Indonesia to host Indian Ocean Tourism Fair JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia will host the second annual tourism fair of the 24-member Indian Ocean Tourism Organization next month. The fair will be held between April 24 and April 28 at the Jakarta Convention Center and have over 600 participants from 25 countries. The fair will have seminars and media workshops and is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors. Setia Mice is organizing the fair and will do so for the next five years.

Endangered cats found in Lampung BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Conservationists recently discovered several endangered marble cats, Pardofelis marmorata, known locally as kucing marmer, in the Way Kambas National Park, Central Lampung, Antara reported yesterday. The news agency quoted Eko Wardoyo, the head of the province's forestry department, as saying Tuesday that the marble cats were detected by an automatic camera installed in the park.

In fact it is difficult to spend a Rp 25 coin as most traders are reluctant to accept them. Even in buses these coins are hardly seen. Indonesian coffee exports may fall to 260,000 tons SINGAPORE (Reuter): Indonesia's robusta coffee exports in 1997 will probably fall 10 to 20 percent to around 260,000-285,000 tons because of heavy winds and rain which pounded its coffee farms, regional traders said yesterday. Another major factor for the export dip is increasing domestic consumption among Indonesia's 200 million people, the dealers said. Exports last year were more than 320,000 tons.

Telkom project to proceed despite Satelindo pullout JAKARTA (JP): State-owned domestic telecommunications provider Telkom will continue its 36-transponder satellite project despite the withdrawal of its partner, PT Satelindo. Telkom's president, Asman A. Nasution, said yesterday Satelindo's pullout would not affect the satellite's launch schedule. The satellite will replace Telkom's Palapa-B2R satellite which has a normal operational life which ends in April next year.
