The turnaround was attributed to May exports rising by 6.4 percent to 16. 992 billion ringgit against a 3.3 percent rise in imports to 16.753 billion ringgit, it said in data released through the Bernama news agency.

Prices may come off some more before we see the bottom," a Singapore trader said.

The Prosecutor's Office chief, Anthonius Sujata, said local courts trying graft cases have recovered Rp 3.2 billion from government officials in Jayapura, Serui, Biak and Merauke. Merauke holds the record in terms of the amount embezzled.

More Vietnamese refugees repatriated JAKARTA (JP): Another 253 Vietnamese refugees left Galang refugee camp for Ho Chi Minh City yesterday under the Orderly Repatriation Program. They flew out of Indonesia from the Hang Nadim international airport on Batam Island in a Vietnam Airlines' Boeing 767. After yesterday's departure, there are still 2,389 Indochinese refugees awaiting repatriation, the Indonesian officials in charge of the repatriation program said yesterday.

Asahimas profits up 14.6% JAKARTA (JP): PT Asahimas Flat Glass Co. Ltd booked a 14.6 percent increase in net profits to Rp 37.3 billion (US$15.9 million) for the six-month period ended in June 30, up from the Rp 32.5 billion recorded for the same period of last year. Asahimas, which is listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, said that its earnings per share increased to Rp 86 from Rp 75 in the period, with its net margin improving 19.8 percent from 16.9 percent.

Designed for city buses, it now also takes intercity buses. The problem worsens as more and more space is taken up by people parking their cars while they wait for arriving families. Farewell, Indonesia

Farewell, Indonesia Time really flies. It seems only yesterday I first touched the rich soil of Indonesia, on March 6, 1991. Now I have to bid farewell to this lovely country after having served more than five years as my country's information Director with the Taipei Economic and Trade Office, which represents the ROC's interests in Indonesia in the absence of diplomatic relations. To enhance ties between the two countries through better understanding is part and parcel of my job.
