Suralaya power unit joins Java-Bali grid JAKARTA (JP): The Suralaya power station's fifth unit in Cilegon, West Java, has been connected to the Java-Bali electricity grid, adding another 600 megawatts of power. The connection was opened yesterday by state electricity company PT PLN president Djiteng Marsudi at the Suralaya power station. Djiteng said the power station's fifth unit, with a 600- megawatt capacity, was the country's biggest power plant.

The aircraft nicknamed Krincingwesi is the second prototype of the country's first locally-designed medium-range commuter aircraft, N-250. IPTN has built four N-250 prototypes, the Gatotkoco, Krincingwesi, Koconegoro and Pututguritno. The names come from the ancient Mahabarata epic.

Ronny Soewoyo, 41, got two years jail, housewife Okki Suryani, 31, got 18 months jail, while Julianto Arief Indrajaya, 30, got a year in jail. The sentences were harsher than the 10 month terms the prosecutor demanded.

Drowsiness leads to pile up TANGERANG, West Java: A sleepy truck driver caused a four-car pile up on Jl. H. Juanda late Wednesday. The driver was heading toward Ciputat when he crashed into the car in front of him pushing it into the two cars ahead of it. No one was seriously injured. The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. and caused a three-hour traffic jam from Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, to the accident site.
