French tourists stranded

SURABAYA, East Java: A motor boat carrying French tourists
from Bali and heading for Surabaya developed a leak and was
stranded at Kolo-Kolo island, off the Sumenep coast of Madura
island, Antara reported yesterday.

Sumenep District Administration chief Soekarno Marsaid
received a report about the stranded boat from the head of Arjasa
sub-district chief Aminullah through single side band (SSB) last
Tuesday morning.

The report did not mention the number of passengers or other
details about the motor vessel. But it said nobody on the ship
was hurt.

While waiting for the motor ship to be repaired, most
passengers are being given temporary lodging at local residents'
houses. (swe)
