Obituary Ganes Tiar Santoso, the comic book artist that created the Si Buta Dari Goa Hantu (The Blindman from the Ghost Cave), died of a heart attack yesterday. He was 59 years old. Better known by his pen name Ganes Th, he was one of the few Indonesian comic writers who weathered the invasion of foreign comics into the country. Si Buta has been adapted into a film drama now shown on RCTI every Sunday.

Halla's Indonesian plant SEOUL (UPI): The Halla Group, a South Korean business group, has signed an agreement for a joint venture with PT Surya Sinaga Sakti of Indonesia to build a cement plant, a group spokesman said. The two companies will invest US$225 million into the joint- venture plant, which will be located in West Java, Indonesia. Construction will be completed in early 1999, the group spokesman said.

Ex-ICRC representative in Indonesia dies JAKARTA (JP): Cedric Neukomm, a senior official of the International Commission of the Red Cross (ICRC) who worked in Indonesia in the late 1970s, died on Dec. 5 of heart failure. His last position was chief delegate of the ICRC in Pakistan. Neukomm was the first ICRC delegate in Indonesia to help 120,000 East Timorese return from the hills after being held hostage by Fretilin in mid 1979.
