Industrial estate expanded

JAKARTA (JP): PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka, the country's
largest industrial estate firm, yesterday started a 230-hectare
expansion project in Cikarang, West Java.

The company's president, Ismail Sofyan, said at the ground-
breaking ceremony yesterday that the expansion project is
expected to accommodate the growing number of industrial
investors, especially overseas investors, wanting to relocate or
expand their industrial activities in the estate.

He reported that the first phase of the Cikarang Industrial
Estate, which covers an acreage of 790 hectares, has been fully
occupied by 425 companies with a total investment of Rp 2.7
trillion (US$1.2 billion). (rid)
