Defensive driving

In response to the article in The Jakarta Post Dec. 6, 1995 issue entitled Indonesians the worst drivers in the world, the consultant is quoted that he was puzzled by the low accident rate in Indonesia despite the very high level of traffic violations.

Well the answer is fairly simple: when every driver knows that every other driver most likely will not follow the traffic rules, everyone drives defensively. That is the definition of "defensive driving."
