73 Aceh refugees die from diseases in last two months JAKARTA (JP): At least 73 people have died in refugee camps in Aceh over the past two months, while 45,000 people are still in shelters, an official said on Friday. The head of the province's health crisis center, Ibrahim Hasyim, said most of the deaths were the result of fever, diarrhea and other diseases in shelters in North Aceh, Pidie and East Aceh. "Most of the camps receive minimal aid," Ibrahim was quoted as saying by Antara.

On the other hand he has generated a negative impact. Having no land to dry the raw crackers he uses a vacant lot next to a school and close to a residential area. Foreign exchange reserves fall to US$15.8 billion JAKARTA (JP): The country's net foreign exchange reserves fell US$133.4 million to $15.8 billion as of Aug. 31, partly due to foreign debt payments. Bank Indonesia said on Friday in its latest weekly report that the level of forex net reserves was still above the minimum target of $14.3 billion set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Gross foreign exchange reserves also declined 146.2 million to $26.8 billion.

"We share the goal of providing a stable, dependable and low- cost supply of basic food to Indonesians," Cargill Indonesia general manager Aldi Djatijanto said in a statement.

Six people killed, 40 homes burned in Ambon clash AMBON, Maluku (JP): Six people were killed, 25 others were injured and 40 homes were set on fire during a clash at daybreak on Friday. The fatalities were identified as La Hasan, 45, Johari, 40, Ludwig Samloy, 22, and David Paliama, 16, who died of gunshot wounds, Ambon Police chief Lt. Col. Ghufron said. Two others were Souisa, 70, and his wife who died in the fire in the Tantui area. The bodies were brought to the local church.

Hadi S. in The Jakarta Post on Aug. 30, 1999, I am strongly convinced that Bengawan Solo was not composed by Gesang, but it was composed by the late Sujoko. This controversial issue came to the surface a long time ago and the name of Gesang often appeared in newspapers, also when he was invited to come to Japan and on various other occasions.
