Police arrest three over fake Supertetra capsules
JAKARTA (JP): National Police officials have seized 10 million
counterfeit capsules of the Supertetra anti-impotence drug and
two tons of packaging material from two separate warehouses on
Jl. Baturaja, in Tangerang.
National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Togar M. Sianipar said on
Friday that three people, identified as H, W and M, were arrested
in the one-day raid.
"Police found the packaging material in the first warehouse,
and the 10 million fake capsules in the second warehouse," Togar
told reporters.
The two warehouses belong to PT Sibalek, which claims to be a
pharmaceuticals company.
Separately, a source at the National Police's narcotics
division said on Friday that a 50-year-old American male was
arrested in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Aug. 25 in possession
of eight kilograms of hashish.
"John Edward Hoestetler is a difficult man. He did not talk
much. His friend, Bruce Fitzgerald, who gave him the drugs, is
still at large. According to John, Bruce is a fugitive from U.S.
Interpol," the source said.
John was caught with the drugs in a room of the Baka-Baka
Hotel in Mataram.
"His current residence is on Jl. Bung Karno, right behind the
hotel. The hashish was found wrapped in paper packages and
stashed in buckets in the room."
The source added that the next day, police found up to 298
kilograms of hashish worth about Rp 80 billion (US$11.4 million),
packed in boxes and buried about one-meter deep in the yard of
Taman Sejahtera complex on Jl. Koperasi, Ampenan subdistrict,
Mataram.
Two Danish men, identified as Niels Christian Rahbek, alias
Nicholas Paul Rabaut, and Michael David Belcher, are suspected of
bringing in the huge drug cargo. They are still at large.
"Documents found in Niels' home at the complex state that he
is a journalist. He has two passports. The real one will expire
on Dec. 4, 2005," the source said.
Earlier on Wednesday, police seized 150 kilograms of marijuana
in a single raid in Bogor. A Thai national was also arrested
recently at the Soekarno-Hatta International airport for
smuggling 1.75 kilograms of pure heroin into the country. (ylt)
