SURABAYA, East Java: The Japan Foundation, in cooperation with the Association of International Education of Japan, will hold its annual test of Japanese language proficency on Dec. 5.
The international level test, known as Nihongo Noryoku Shiken, will be held simultaneously in 75 countries.
Arfil Syahadat, a staff member of the Japanese Consulate here, said on Friday that tests in Indonesia would be conducted in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung and Medan.
The test is open to all, he said as quoted by Antara.
It will be held in four proficiency levels, with participants who earn a passing grade receiving certificates.
The test is often used to filter prospective foreign employees of Japanese companies abroad, Arfil said.
Last year 130,385 people worldwide took the test. Arfil did not reveal the number of Indonesians who took part, but said that in Surabaya alone there remained a strong interest in learning Japanese.
