A boy drowned in artificial pond JAKARTA (JP): A six-year-old boy has been found dead in an artificial pond in the Gading Serpong housing complex in Tangerang. Ilham Masyar was found by residents living close to the housing complex after his father asked them to join the search for the missing child. The body was found in water four meters deep. Some eyewitnesses said that they saw Ilham with three friends going to the pond to swim and catch small fish.

The majority of diesel trucks and buses here run with their fuel injection pumps open. Drivers and untrained mechanics fiddle with the engines. You can see even fairly new vehicles puffing smoke. The engines do not burn fuel efficiently. Consequently, smoke clouds follow vehicles.

Inco profits jump 128.6% JAKARTA (JP): Publicly-listed nickel mining company PT International Nickel Indonesia (Inco) reported a 128.6 percent increase in its (unaudited) net profits to US$96 million last year. The company said in a statement that its sales rose 38.9 percent to $301.8 million last year. In the fourth quarter alone of last year, the company booked a net profit of $25.4 million, as compared to $17.3 million in the same period of the previous year.
