The grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Indonesia's independence is still deeply imprinted in our minds. The more so since my wife and I made a working visit to France some time ago.

It was drizzling when we strolled in Paris and the rain left marks on my wife's silk dress. She was told that it should be immediately laundered and so she took the dress to the laundry in the five-star hotel in which we were staying. But to our disappointment the stain remained.

When we were in Milan, one of my wife's blouses was stained by food. Again she took it immediately to the hotel laundry only to find that the result was quite unsatisfactory.

When we returned to Indonesia, my wife (although pessimistic) took the clothes to the laundry in the supermarket in Pondok Indah Mall, South Jakarta. To our amazement, all the marks were completely removed.

We have every reason to be proud of services of our own country.
