Pickpocket king attacked
SEMARANG: A group of pickpockets and beggars revolted against their boss yesterday and beat him up, Antara reported.
Bagong, 35, was discovered by the police lying helplessly in a corner of the Johar Market yesterday. The man, often dubbed the "king of pickpockets", was a repeat offender and currently a fugitive.
The news agency reported that the chief of the police investigation unit Capt. Tugas D.A. found Bagong while following up a report about a man being assaulted.
"Oh, it's you who got all beaten up, eh?" Tugas was reported to have said. "We've been looking for you, and here you are now, lying down like this."
"Yes sir. I was on the way to turn myself in to your office, when my men attacked me," Bagong said. The man is now being treated at the Karyadi Hospital. (swe)
