KL airport deal signed
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): A Malaysian-British joint venture yesterday signed a deal with Malaysia Airports Bhd. (MAB) to manage the design, construction and commissioning of four projects at the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Sepakat Setia Perunding-Tarmac Black Veatch Sdn. Bhd. will manage the design, construction and commissioning of car parks, car rental facilities, a foodcourt and common amenities worth 300 million ringgit (US$120 million).
"All these four business packages are financed fully by MAB," its managing director Khairuddin Ibrahim said at the signing of the project management consultancy agreement.
The eight-billion-ringgit airport, about 30 kilometers (14 miles) from Kuala Lumpur, is expected to be completed late next year.
Khairuddin said the short-term and long-term car park projects will cost 255 million ringgit.
The short-term car park project is for a covered seven-story building which can accommodate 6,500 cars while the long-term car park has 6,000 bays.
