Pertina wants more boxers for Atlanta JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) is setting its sight on winning three more Olympic berths in an international tournament in Bangkok, scheduled from Feb. 25 to March 2. Pertina executive chairman Imron Z.S. told reporters yesterday that six boxers are now completing their training session for the tournament which serves as the final Olympic qualifying round.

Abstract painting exhibition JAKARTA (JP): Fans of abstract painting are in for a treat at an exhibition by noted painter Machzum Siregar at the Ambara Hotel in Blok M. The exhibit was opened Monday evening by Rennie Singgih, wife of the Attorney General, and will last through Thursday. A former wrestler in the 1958-1960 Asian Games, Machzum taught himself abstract painting. Machzum considers the bold color he uses to cover his canvases his trademark.

Last warning for paper plant MEDAN, North Sumatra: The provincial administration has served a last warning on PT Sari Morawa, a paper manufacturer in Deli Serdang district, to control its waste, or face stern action. The administration's Clean River Program team said that the company, which discharges its waste to Belumai River, has been repeatedly warned since 1992, Antara reported. Flood death toll rises to 20, two still missing JAKARTA (JP): Seven more bodies were found yesterday, raising the death toll to 20 in the aftermath of floods which struck the city over the weekend. The city's flood control office reported that seven bodies were found in city's rivers as the water started to recede. Two of the victims were nine-month-old infants Nining and Suhendra, residents of Papanggo, Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta.
