Five vehicles chain-crash BEKASI, West Java (JP): Five motor vehicles were involved in a collision on the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road here yesterday but no one was hurt. The accident occurred where part of the road was being guarded by security officers for President Soeharto's arrival at an electronics plant. The crash occurred when a Kijang minivan coming from Cikampek suddenly halted. A Bhineka inter-city bus then hit the back of the Kijang.

Rumors and bomb hoaxes disrupt Jakarta JAKARTA (JP): Rumors of a new wave of riots and bomb hoaxes again disrupted the capital yesterday, which still jittered from the impact of Saturday's street violence. The Glodok market in West Jakarta and Pasar Baru in Central Jakarta, both normally crowded with shoppers, were virtually deserted by 1 p.m.. Most shop owners brought their shutters down after rumors spread that the two shopping centers were being targeted for new riots.

Six missing in ship fire PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Six crew members, including a Korean national, went missing after the Singapore flag tanker MT Lido caught fire in Sungai Gerong quay here yesterday. Swasono Adi, an official of the local office of the state- owned oil company Pertamina, said the incident began at 5:30 a.m.. The fire was put out about 40 minutes later.
