Freeport

Freeport's statement on their commitment to support the backward villages aid program as outlined in Mr. Ed Pressman's July 26 letter should be welcomed. I do have queries though as to whether the funds contributed (1 percent of Freeport's annual revenue) is to commence as from the 1995/1996 period and wonder if the company will also include the revenues earned -- I would presume totaling millions of U.S. dollars plus interest if the funds were placed in a time deposit at say 6 percent per annum -- since its operation (of approximately two decades) in Indonesia?

As said, better late than never!
