Haj pilgrims should not smoke From Republika I am writing this letter in the context of the Manasik haji (haj pilgrimage rituals), with particular regards to health matters. In the book on health it is mentioned that many haj pilgrims have problems with upper respiratory tract infections, which can cause death if untreated. One may question the truth of this, thinking that some bacteria and viruses cannot live in the heat. The heat can be oppressive there, and one must breathe.

A Kerjasama bus was hit by the Purbaya train at a railway crossing in Karanganyar, while the guard in charge of the crossing gate was in the toilet. Village chief lead 55 protesting traders BEKASI, West Java (JP): Kali Baru village chief Antartika S.W. led a delegation of 55 traders who went to the Bekasi mayoralty yesterday to protest the planned demolition of their kiosks. The delegation, representing 160 traders operating kiosks under an overpass in Kali Baru, West Bekasi, demanded that the mayor suspend the demolition plan.

Asahimas forms trading arm JAKARTA (JP): PT Asahimas Flat Glass Co. Ltd will set up a trading arm in Singapore to support the marketing of its glass products in Asia. Asahimas, a major flat glass producer listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, announced yesterday that it plans to establish a trading company in cooperation with Glaverbel S.A., a Belgian glass manufacturer.
