Haj pilgrims should not smoke
Haj pilgrims should not smoke
From Republika
I am writing this letter in the context of the Manasik haji
(haj pilgrimage rituals), with particular regards to health
matters. In the book on health it is mentioned that many haj
pilgrims have problems with upper respiratory tract infections,
which can cause death if untreated.
One may question the truth of this, thinking that some
bacteria and viruses cannot live in the heat. The heat can be
oppressive there, and one must breathe. People can go without
food for three days with no problem, but three minutes without
breathing brings death.
It's a pity that cigarette smokers don't consider the impact
of their habit on non-smokers. Haj pilgrims should pay attention
to the problem of smoking. God prohibits His devotees to spend
money on useless things. One should feel guilty if one is
dependent on cigarettes. Some people cannot even work, or think
well, and cannot enjoy food and drink without cigarettes.
In order for the pilgrimage to be successful, the pilgrim
should avoid doing things that are prohibited by God and which
harm other people.
