Four foreigners questioned
JAKARTA (JP): Two Australian men and two Dutch men are being questioned by the Directorate General of Immigration for allegedly violating their visas.
The director of supervision and enforcement at the directorate general, Zaiman Nurmatis, said in a press release yesterday that Neil Shield Rodney and Rick Brian Mc Carthy of Australia and Raymond Jurgens and Santema Bartele of the Netherlands were believed to be working for PT Crown Pasific in Cilandak, South Jakarta.
"According to their temporary permits, they are technical advisors, but they have signed official letters as general managers," Zaiman said.
Zaiman said he believed that PT Crown Pasific had hired six foreigners who were violating immigration law.
He said he was refused a meeting with the foreigners when he and his staff visited the company last Friday.
"If the four foreigners are found guilty of violating Article 50 of Immigration Law No. 9/1992, they may be sentenced for up to five years in jail or fined up to Rp 25 million," he said.
The law regulates visas for foreigners. (sur)
