Bus hits tree, four dead BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Four people were killed and ten others were injured when their bus slammed against a huge tree and then overturned in Manggala on the border of South Sumatra. The bus was speeding and it swerved to avoid a big hole on the road. Instead it crashed into an acacia tree. Asian stock markets higher in line with Wall Street HONG KONG (REUTER): Asian markets were mostly higher yesterday following a rise in the dollar and Wall Street overnight, brokers said. Hong Kong stocks were the major gainers with the blue-chip Hang Seng Index surging 97.42 points, or 1.05 percent, to close at 9,336.11. Brokers said the rise was due mainly to bargain-hunting by domestic investors, with some buying by Japanese funds.

Stock Exchange JAKARTA (JP): Stock trading continued to improve on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) yesterday, with most shares gaining ground in active trading. The broad-based Composite Index, the official price barometer, gained more than four points to close at 502.96 yesterday, breaking the 500-point barrier for the first time in three months. The index reached 600 in January but it suffered persistent drops in the following months to nearly 450 points early last month.

Saving energy? From Kompas Two years ago when I went abroad I was proud of the Soekarno- Hatta International Airport. It looked magnificent. During my stay abroad and after visiting many countries, I still felt that Soekarno-Hatta airport was wonderful. But I was disappointed when I returned from overseas after two years. I didn't find the same magnificent airport. Some parts of the airport area were poorly lit.
