Accountants set standards

JAKARTA (JP): The Society of Indonesian Accountants has set professional standards for public accountants which are based almost entirely on the American standards.

Acting Chairman of the society Katjep K. Abdoelkadir told a reception to introduce the Professional Standards of Public Accountants book last night that the standards are binding to all public accountants in Indonesia in providing auditing and other financial services to clients.

Abdulkadir noted that the economic globalization and the rapid growth of the capital market demand higher quality services and a wider variety of financial services from public accountants.

The enforcement of the professional standards which are based on the American standards will help improve the quality and broaden the range of financial services to be provided by public accountants, he added. (vin)
