Mosquitoes

From Jayakarta

During the dry season we are confronted with problems such as lack of water and possible failure in the agricultural sector. But we have also a grave problem that is causing us great concern. Mosquitoes are swarming around our house day and night. These mosquitoes are very dangerous for our new born baby. I believe many mothers have the same problem.

Can't the health service office do something about it? I read an article about `smoking' the mosquito-ridden area to prevent dengue fever from spreading. But I do not know whether that method is effective enough to abolish the disease.

It should be noted that the mosquitoes are very aggressive now and the family is continuously disturbed by their presence. Unfortunately, mosquito sprays don't help much. Does this mean that mosquitoes now have greater resistance to all sorts of chemicals or have the quality of mosquito deterrents declined?
