Solve water problem now! I refer to the two articles in The Jakarta Post on July 4, 2001 and July 6, 2001 regarding the lack of water supply to West and South Jakarta. I was amazed to read Mr. Pierre Alla's comments that PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) is being asked to pay a 25 percent increase on the current Rp 915 per cubic meter and this is too high. Why is it too high when you charge us between Rp 2,500 and Rp 3,500 per cubic meter?

Robbers strike woman's breast JAKARTA (JP): A 27-year old woman was struck by a sickle on her left breast early on Friday morning by one of the four men who robbed her home on Jl. Wijaya III, in the Gandaria Utara area of South Jakarta. The woman, identified as Puspita, 27, had accidentally come face to face with the robbers at her residence, but suddenly one surprised robber struck her chest. Cirebon police HQ blaze kills four JAKARTA (JP): At least three police detectives and one prisoner were killed in a raging fire that destroyed the detectives division of the Cirebon Police Headquarters on Jl. Raya Winong, Arjawinangun in Cirebon, on Friday afternoon. The incident followed an explosion at the detectives unit at about 2 p.m. on Friday, according to National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Shell, IMB unveil pact ARMONK, New York (AFP): The Royal Dutch/Shell Group oil conglomerate and IBM Friday announced a five-year, multi-million dollar strategic alliance. The three hubs will be located in Kuala Lumpur, The Hague, and Houston. The pact calls for IBM to supply the technology for Shell's three new worldwide computer services hubs that will consolidate the oil conglomerate's data networks. Company officials said the agreement to exceed will exceed US$100 million in value.

Private airline Star Air to begin services Sunday JAKARTA (JP): Private local airline Star Air will commence services on Sunday with flights from Jakarta to Makassar in South Sulawesi and to Surabaya in East Java. Company vice president J. Tumenggung said on Friday that Star Air chose to fly from Jakarta to both provinces after identifying growing demand in the areas. "We're optimistic about receiving a good response from the public," he told a news conference.
