Javanese rhino found dead JAKARTA (JP): A Javan rhinoceros, a rare protected species of which a mere 50 are thought to exist, was found dead on Tuesday in Ujung Kulon National Park, West Java. Director for Regional Conservation of the Ministry of Forestry and Plantation Widodo S. Ramono said it was found dead by a joint team from the World Wildlife Fund and the park. "But the death of the animal was thought to have been of natural causes," Widodo was quoted by Antara as saying on Friday.

Pertamina finds oil and gas JAKARTA (JP): State oil and gas company Pertamina said on Friday it had discovered oil and gas during exploration activities in West Java's Indramayu and East Java's Blora. Pertamina spokesman Toto Suparto announced that the Melandong I well in Indramayu produced 1,764 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and 13.7 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas. The KTB I well in Blora produces 8.4 MMCFD of gas and 7.2 bpd of oil.
