C. Java fighters to World C'ships

SEMARANG (JP): Three Central Java pencak silat fighters --
Jayanti Agustiningrum in the women's C class, Edi Purnomo in the
men's F class and Dwi Priono in the men's L class -- will compete
in the Pencak Silat World Championships in Hanoi at the end of
August.

The Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) Central Java
chapter secretary general Rochadi said on Friday that the three
fighters would join 17 athletes from other provinces in the
event.

As the three fighters won gold medals in the Youth National
Pencak Silat Championships in July, the chapter decided to submit
their names for the international event.

Rochadi names Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and France as tough
rivals in the event. (har)
