Alleged bank robber shot dead JAKARTA (JP): A bank robber has been shot dead earlier this week for resisting arrest near the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal in East Jakarta. Central Jakarta Police Chief, Lt. Col. S.Y. Wenas, said that on April 2, Padol, 23, had attempted to rob Haris Hanafi of the Rp 130 million (US$55,193) he had just withdrawn from a bank on Jl. Soeharto concerned over brawls JAKARTA (JP): Concerned about recent students brawls, President Soeharto has asked the national scouts to be more active in strengthening the morals and character of the country's younger generations. His request was conveyed to the chief of the national scout association, Himawan Sutanto, yesterday. The recent student unrest has claimed three lives. An 18-year- old technical high school student, Rachmat Hidayat, was killed in a brawl in East Jakarta last Friday.
