Australian sports officials due here

JAKARTA (JP): Australia's Northern Territory Sport and
Recreation Minister Steve Hatton will make a trip here late this
month in a bid to strengthen ties between the two sports
communities.

During his visit here, Hatton, who will be accompanied by
Ministerial Officer Bill Ivory and the Arafura Games Manager
Wally Mauger, is scheduled to meet with his Indonesian
counterpart Hayono Isman and chairman of the National Sports
Council Wismoyo Arismunandar.

The top-level sports officials are expected to discuss the
development of a closer sporting relationship between Indonesia
and the Northern Territory. The Australian minister will also
deliver a formal invitation to Indonesia to take part in the 1997
Arafura Games in Darwin in May. (amd)
