Expats celebrate Kartini Day

JAKARTA (JP): Around 200 expatriates took part in a 10- kilometer cross-country run held by the Jakarta Hash House Harriettes outside the 3,400-hectare Cikarang Baru housing and industrial complex, Bekasi, Wednesday evening.

The participants, many of whom are employees of the United States Embassy, Japanese Embassy and some European embassies in Jakarta, were mostly women. The cross-country run was held to commemorate the birth of Indonesia's heroine Kartini, who was known for her efforts in advancing Indonesian women.

Winners will be awarded on Kartini Day, April 21, by the developer of the housing and industrial estate, the developer's spokesman said yesterday. (arf)
