ADB approves loan for RP MANILA (AFP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Thursday approved loans totaling US$70 million to help rehabilitate a key toll road linking the Philippines capital with the northern provinces. Repairs to the narrow, congested and poorly-maintained 84- kilometer (52-mile) North Luzon Expressway would spur development of the central and northern portions of Luzon, the country's biggest island, the Manila-based lender said in a statement.

The train was rather empty that morning so each passenger could get a seat. I sat close to the train door, reading a book. Education budget questioned I do not know what the minister of national education and his staff are thinking. I'm referring to a report in The Jakarta Post on Oct. 9, Govt urged to allocate more funds for education. It seems to me the government has turned a blind eye to the fate of the poor, as indicated by the relatively limited budget for education. An indication of our poor education system is the rote learning that is taught to our children, even in universities.
