A police officer at the Central Jakarta Police precinct said the 25 women, eight of them prostitutes from among the 95 couples rounded up in crackdowns at hotels in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Friday, had to be taken to the Social Services office because they had no identification cards.

Suparmi's body was found last week badly mutilated in woods in the Kuripan district, Probolinggo police precinct's chief Ferial Manaf said over the weekend. Ferial said, "The victim was hacked to death on suspicion of practicing black magic," Antara reported. He added that two suspects are still at large.

Student killed in fight JAKARTA (JP): A 15-year-old junior high school student was killed by a mob on Jl. Kampung Gabus, Tambun district, in Bekasi on Friday evening. An officer at the Bekasi Police precinct said the victim, M. Syahrun, was attacked by a group of people while he and his friends were watching an open-air movie at a field in the area. He said Syahrun's friends escaped and reported the attack. The motive for the assault is still unknown.

The animals on sale were protected species, including monkeys, ant eaters, squirrels, civet cats, forest cats.
