Alleged sorcerer hacked to death

PROBOLINGGO, East Java: Police have arrested three people suspected of killing a 68-year-old man on suspicion that he practiced sorcery.

Suparmi's body was found last week badly mutilated in woods in the Kuripan district, Probolinggo police precinct's chief Ferial Manaf said over the weekend.

Ferial said, "The victim was hacked to death on suspicion of practicing black magic," Antara reported. He added that two suspects are still at large.

The police believe Suparmi was murdered near his home because they found traces of blood on a coconut tree near his house, Ferial said. (pan)
