Bulog intervenes in market with 49,822 tons of rice JAKARTA (JP): The National Logistics Agency (Bulog) announced yesterday that it has so far supplied market places across the country with 49,822 tons of rice to stop prices from soaring. A spokesman for the agency, Suhardjono, told reporters that the market operations -- kicked off in September and expected to last until next February -- have been conducted in 22 of the country's 27 provinces.

Kapuk pig farms to move to W. Java JAKARTA (JP): The City Administration has decided to move the pig farm complex in Kapuk, West Jakarta, to a more appropriate location. The head of the City Animal Husbandry Office, Sumitro, said recently that the new location would be in Bekasi or Tangerang, West Java. According to Sumitro, the 18.7 hectares of farm land in Kapuk belong to 60 farmers who breed a total of 40,000 pigs.

Thief eats gold necklace JAKARTA (JP): A 30-year old man, duping a prostitute he patronized on Wednesday, was made to sit by police and defecate so that a stolen necklace he swallowed could be recovered. Semarang Police spokesman Capt. Tugas D.A. told Antara that the thief, identified only as MN, drugged the prostitute, Ti, and allegedly took the necklace. The girl later reported her suspicion of MN to the police. Police took MN to the hospital for an X-ray and found the missing necklace. (swe)
