Wild elephants hamper traffic
BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A herd of wild elephants inhabiting
the forest of North Lampung have been turning a portion of the
road connecting here with South Sumatra into their local hangout,
badly hampering traffic.
Antara reported yesterday that motorists are often taken by
surprise by wild elephants crossing the road. Groups of elephants
have also been spotted "sitting" alongside, or even in the middle
of the road.
"We're afraid that the elephants may suddenly go on a rampage
or attack us," a motorist complained. (swe)
