Govt raises fuel prices by an average of 12 percent JAKARTA (JP): The government on Saturday raised fuel prices by an average of 12 percent to help offset soaring oil prices in international markets. The new prices are effective as of Sunday. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said raising fuel prices was a hard decision but the government did not have many choices other than to take the measure in a bid to cut the large subsidies for domestic fuel sales.

50 masked men raid discotheque, hurt guests JAKARTA (JP): Some 50 masked men dressed in black raided the JeJe Discotheque on Jl. Budi Kemuliaan, Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta in the early hours of Saturday. They smashed windows, several chairs and tables, a computer and some projectors, all worth about Rp 100 million, and injured five guests. Ari, an employee at the discotheque, said the unidentified group arrived at about 2:10 a.m.

Cikini Raya No. 73, Central Jakarta, on Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. The play Tabib Gadungan is an adaptation of Moliere's Le medecine malgre lui. Performed by the Studiklub Teater Bandung, the play has also been adapted into a Sundanese version titled Sakit Bohongan, (Fake illness).
