Relocating schools not the answer to brawls: Wardiman JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman Djojonegoro says that relocating schools will not stop students brawling. He said that the idea to relocate schools which are close to each other or that are close to shopping centers is good. "But, that's not the point. Thorough studies are needed and they take time," he said. Wardiman said many factors should be taken into consideration before a decision on school relocations is made.

RP on lookout for Chinese ship MANILA (Reuter): The Philippine Coast Guard has ordered all its units to be on the lookout for a Chinese cargo vessel with 18 crew on board last seen in the South China Sea two months ago, a Coast Guard officer said yesterday. The vessel, identified as the Qiong Hai, has not been seen since July 16, according to advice received on Saturday from the Chinese embassy in Manila, said Andrew Pilon, a Coast Guard operations duty officer.

Python scares Salatiga school SALATIGA, Central Java: An apparently intoxicated student scared his schoolmates and teachers when he arrived at school with a five-meter-long python around his neck. The 17-year-old junior high school student, Brahmantyo, entered the school's administration office and demanded that he be given papers for a school transfer. Teachers immediately called the police who apprehended the boy.

Sempati Air During our flight to Pekanbaru with Sempati Air on Aug. 27, a colleague and I read a message by the company's president director that they hoped to have ISO9002 accreditation by the end of this year. The service on the flight was good and the airplane left and arrived on schedule. From the site we were visiting, we telephoned the Sempati office to confirm our return flight on the same day. This was later confirmed when we checked in at the Gold Class lounge for a 5:50 p.m. departure.

Mampang Prapatan needs more bridges From Neraca I often pass along the Mampang Prapatan road and am concerned about the pedestrians who frequently cross this road. The stretch of road starting from Hero supermarket to Ragunan Raya is very wide and divided into four lanes for two-way traffic. Heavy traffic makes it very difficult for pedestrians to cross this road. Fast moving vehicles increase the risk of accidents on this road. There is, indeed, a pedestrian bridge available.
