Blocked artery

For all the thousands of Jakarta residents contemplating a relaxing, traffic-jam free weekend away from the "Big Smoke," think twice before heading out West towards the Anyer/Carita area. The overspill from the Anyer market in conjunction with recent heavy rains have left the main thoroughfare nearly impassable. Huge potholes disguised as puddles treacherously straddle the road, while market stalls encroach further and further upon the traveler's domain.

Needless to say, come Sunday evening the traffic crawls slowly home and travel weary holiday-makers, stressed and refreshed, will limp through their front doors unprepared to commence a new working week.
