Bus ticket windows

A man hailing from Temanggung in Central Java got into a panic on a recent Friday evening because he could not find the ticket window at the crowded Pulogadung intercity terminal for buses going to Temanggung. I was able to show him the right ticket window because I happened to be traveling on the same bus.

A while later the man was standing beside me with ticket in hand and complaining (as if to me) about the row of ticket windows with boards painted yellow with black letters. He said it was difficult to differentiate one from another.

The next day when I wanted to return to Jakarta from Kartosuro, Solo, Central Java, I saw that the boards above the ticket windows were painted in a variety of colors and the letters were decorative. The logo of the bus company was also clearly visible.

I think the Pulogadung intercity bus terminal should do the same as the one in Kartosuro. It would help passengers find the ticket window they need, thus preventing panic among prospective passengers in an already crowded terminal.
