Python scares Salatiga school

SALATIGA, Central Java: An apparently intoxicated student scared his schoolmates and teachers when he arrived at school with a five-meter-long python around his neck.

The 17-year-old junior high school student, Brahmantyo, entered the school's administration office and demanded that he be given papers for a school transfer.

Teachers immediately called the police who apprehended the boy.

Talking to journalists at the police station here yesterday afternoon, Brahmantyo said he did it for attention. "Look, now I'm being interviewed by local and national journalists. I'm happy, my name will be in your papers," quipped the mischievous teenager. (har/mds)
