DPR Monitors Indian Products
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The House of Representatives(DPR) is warning local businessmen to prepare themselves for the invasion of Indian products, as they will be low-priced, in line with the plan to ratify the ASEAN–India free-trade agreement. The Trade and Industry Commission chairman Airlangga Hartarto explained that Indian products may be competing with middle to upper class products. These products are intended for consumers with better purchasing power compared to Chinese products.

Confusion over 10 percent Tax on Food and Beverages
Though the government officially abolished the 10 percent value-added tax of food and beverages on April 1, businesses are still continuing to impose the additional charge, the Indonesian Consumer Protection Foundation warned on Tuesday. Tulus Abadi, from the foundation, also known as the YLKI, blamed the government for not informing the public about the new law.

RI, Iceland agree to develop clean energy
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Iceland have agreed to cooperate in the development of geothermal energy to really contribute to the development of clean energy in the world. "President Yudhoyono and President Olafur agreed Indonesia and Iceland would develop cooperation in the field of geothermal energy, develop geothermal know-how or centre of excellence," presidential spokesman/staff for international relations Dino Patti Djala said here on Monday.

Indonesia to take lead on geothermal energy: president
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pledged Monday to make Indonesia the world's biggest user of clean, renewable geothermal energy, and urged private investors to back him. The archipelago of 234 million people and more than 200 volcanoes is estimated to possess around 40 percent of the world's geothermal energy potential, or around 28,000 megawatts (MW).

Indonesia's Ambitious Geothermal Goals Seen Requiring Big Changes
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday declared that Indonesia would surpass the United States and the Philippines to become the world’s largest user of geothermal energy by 2025 - a goal experts said was achievable but would require some changes in the way the government operates. “Indonesia is currently only using 1,100 megawatts [of geothermal power],” Yudhoyono said.

North Sulawesi to dominate ASEAN market

Lampung`s jelly fish in great demand in 4 countries
Bandarlampung (ANTARA News) - Lampung province`s jelly fish and sea cucumbers had been selling well on the world market, especially in Canada, Singapore, South Korea and the United States. Head of the Lampung industry and trade agency Suparmo said here Monday that these commodities had been substantially produced, processed and exported by PT Keong Nusantara Abadi in Natar, South Lampung regency.
