Banten to offer investment opportunities to French bizmen

Serang (ANTARA News) - Banten province will offer investment opportunities in sea port development, road construction and tourism to French businessmen, the chief of Banten`s provincial Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Eneng Nurcahyati, said here on Friday. She said the Banten provincial administration and French businessmen would hold a business gathering on April 2-3 to offer the investment opportunities.

Overseas, the mie goreng now even comes in a full-size Styrofoam "mangkuk". Like eating at a warung. And Indomie aquits itself well enough, for nutrition.

Government rues illegal coal export

Ika Krismantari, The Jakarta Post At least 20 million tons of coal have been produced and exported illegally every year since the beginning of 2005, the government says. Simon Sembiring, director general of coal, mineral and geothermal energy at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, said Thursday mushrooming illegal mining practices that started three years ago had led to the illegal exports.

Center to boost enterpreneurship

A new government-funded center that will tailor state research to the business community for free was opened by State Minister for Research and Technology Kusmayanto Kadiman on Thursday. The Business Innovation Centre (BIC) will link researchers with the business community, Kusmayanto said. "The BIC will promote research to the business community," he said.

PT Indofood Sukses Makmur said Monday the company would not increase the prices of its flour-based products until the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan despite the soaring wheat price. "We want to keep the prices steady until Ramadhan," Indofood vice president told reporters on the sidelines of the Indofood Nugraha Research program launch in South Jakarta. The fasting month starts in September and ends in early October.

CPO exports to increase 27 percent in 2008

The Jakarta Post Despite new tariffs on export duties and a more restrictive export regulation on crude palm oil (CPO), exports for this year are expected to increase by around 27 percent, says the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI). "The high export duties will not affect our CPO exports too much," GAPKI executive chairman Derom Bangun said Thursday.

Prof Gracia S Ugut, dean of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), said Asia had now replaced the United States as the engine of world economic growth.
