Southern Co and Hopewell Holdings Ltd said earlier that Hopewell, CEPA's former parent, would sell its remaining 20 percent stake in CEPA in return for CEPA's 80 percent interest in the central Java power project and US$150 million in cash.

National pride I am writing in reference to the article Surly secretaries, English lesson ("By the way...," June 29). I have been thinking about writing on the same subject, but couldn't find the right words to express it. You accurately and clearly expressed what I have been wanting to say. I lived in America for almost 40 years. When I returned to Indonesia, my Indonesian was rusty and I decided to relearn bahasa Indonesia. I also tried to "reconvert" myself to being an Indonesian.

N-250 plane flies in Hanoi HANOI (AFP): An Indonesian-designed commuter aircraft flew a demonstration flight for Vietnamese aviation officials in Hanoi on Wednesday, an embassy official said. The N-250 turboprop aircraft took to the skies at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport before a crowd of officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, she said. The N-250 is a home grown product designed by the Indonesian state-owned PT Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara.

Melia Purosani Hotel gets loan JAKARTA (JP): PT Purosani Sri Persada, which owns the Hotel Melia Purosani, Yogyakarta, secured Wednesday a syndicated loan worth US$14.75 million from five local and overseas banks. Tang Beng Lim, Purosani's president, said the loan would be used to finance its existing debts. National Logistics Agency chairman Beddu Amang said Wednesday that the existing policy had yet to encourage sugarcane farming. "Some changes are absolutely needed if we want to become self- sufficient in sugar production," he said in a speech at the Asian Sugar Conference in Bali.
