Hillary Clinton and Eric Schmidt Featured Speakers at July ASEAN Entrepreneur Summit in Bali Jakarta Globe reports that the ASEAN Regional Entrepreneurship Summit schedule to be held in Bali in July will host more than 200 business leaders from across the region. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Google chairman Eric Schmidt are scheduled as keynote speakers at the summit that will discuss the entrepreneur’s role in creating jobs and developing the economy.

Bali to Have a Local Rail System by 2014?
Government Projects US$2 billion Bali Rail System Bisnis.com reports that the government is targeting the for a 600 kilometer rail system to be in operation in Bali by 2014 at a total project cost of Rp. 18 trillion (US$2 billion). The proposed rail system will circle Bali, connecting major tourism sites on the island.

Japanese Investors to Develop Gas Fields in Eastern Reaches of Nation

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation would help with financing for investors who want to work on those fields, said Raden Priyono, chairman of upstream oil and gas regulator BPMigas.

Swiss-Belhotel to Build Condotel in Balikpapan
TEMPO Interactive, BALIKPAPAN:The Swiss-Belhotel and PT Hasta Kreasimandiri have joined forces to develop a star-rated condotel in Balcony, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The 17-storey building overlooking the sea will include a shopping center and playground. "The Swiss-Belhotel was appointed the manager," Hasta Group CEO Fadjraa Oemar said yesterday. Oemar is optimistic the project has good prospects and said the condotel would improve economic prospects in the area.

OECD says RIs Investment Procedures too Complicated
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Deputy secretary-general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Richard Boucher, says that investment procedures in Indonesia is still too complicated. The OECD has urged the government to simplify the procedures in order to attract more investors. “There are too many regulations and forms to be filled,” said Richard at Bank Indonesia on Monday.

Weak Global Economy Dampens Foreign Investment
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:A beleaguered global economy has weakened investment interest in Indonesia’s agriculture sector despite its natural resource wealth, said Deputy Agriculture Minister Bayu Krisnamurthi. “Indonesia continues to promote agricultural investment, but the global economy is still weak following economic turmoil in Europe and the US and natural disasters in Japan,” Bayu said in Jakarta on Monday.

Construction of Belawan Gas Terminal to Begin in October
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State-owned gas company, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), is set to begin its construction of a natural gas recipient terminal in Belawan, North Sumatra. “We are expecting to start by October,” CEO Hendi Prio Santoso said in Jakarta on Monday. The company will also operate a floating gas terminal in Jakarta Bay in early 2012. The terminal will be built by PGN, Pertamina and PT Nusantara Regas.

Antam Develops Five Projects
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:PT Aneka Tambang is developing five projects to anticipate the implementation of Law no. 4/2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining in 2014. Antam CEO Alwin Syah Loebis, said he hoped the project would increase the company’s value and financial performance. The law stipulates that all processing and purifying activities be conducted locally to stimulate the local economy. The first project is the chemical grade alumina (CGA) in Tayan, West Kalimantan.
