A Tale of Two Surveys: Polls On Economic Future Differ

Two surveys have given opposing pictures of Indonesian consumer sentiment, with one reporting growing optimism on the back of recent salary bonuses for civil servants, while another showed pessimism as rising food prices discouraged spending. A monthly survey from Bank Indonesia released on Saturday showed that the Consumer Confidence Index rose by 1.5 points in June to 111.4, up from May when it slipped 0.8 of a point to 109.9. A score of more than 100 indicates confidence in the economy.

Export Business May Apply Transfer Pricing

VIVAnews - The Directorate General of Taxes reveals that companies in Indonesia that administers export trade and controlled from overseas could potentially carry out transfer pricing. The businesses include automotive, mining and palm oil products. “Basically everything exported and controlled overseas may conduct transfer pricing,” the directorate’s tax investigation and billing director Otto Endi Panjaitan said on July 9.

Malaysia Interested in Water Factory

TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta:Malaysia plans to invest in building a bottled water factory in Surakarta. The Malaysian International Trade and Industry Committee said this on Wednesday night and they are ready to invest Rp200 billion. “The factory will produce glass and bottled water,” said the head of the delegation, Ales Ong. The location surveyed is around Bengawan Solo River, which could be a source of raw materials.

Star-rated hotels in E Nusa Tenggara see 60.08% occupancy rate

Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Star-rated hotels in East Nusa Tenggara province saw a more than 4 percent increase in their occupancy rate to 60.08 percent in May from a month earlier. The occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in the province rose to 56.06 percent in March, 56.23 percent in April and 60.08 percent in May, Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Statistics Office Poltak Sutrisno Siahaan said here on Sunday.

Bank BNI to focus on favored industries

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Bank BNI Director Gatot M Suwondo said his bank in the next two years would focus on the financing of favored industries in the regions. "We are now studying the conditions of selected industries in every region in the country that we believed could receive our facilities," the BNI director said here on Sunday. He said that his side had assigned an economist to study favored industries which had the potentials to receive BNI`s financing facilities in the regions.

Bengkulu`s annual CPO production reaches 1.8 million tons

Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - The Sumatran province of Bengkulu is able to produce 1.8 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) this year, an increase of 25.3 percent from that a year earlier, a regional official said. "Bengkulu`s CPO production continues to increase in line with the expansion of oil palm harvest plantation areas in this province," Head of the Forestry Service of Bengkulu Risman Sipayung said here on Sunday.
