Is reading cool or a chore for you?

Is reading cool or a chore for you? J.K. Rowling is said to have revived the love of the written word among kids and teenagers -- and perhaps their parents -- with the magical Harry Potter series. Potter fever has also touched down in this country, but does that mean the reading habit has taken hold among teens here? Mega, 13, student of a private junior high school in Central Jakarta Reading? I'm sorry, but I only read comic books. You know, those Japanese manga.

Miscues stifle independent film scene

Miscues stifle independent film scene Joko Anwar, Contributor, Jakarta It sometimes seems that every 20-something with filmmaking ambitions thinks all they need to do is get their hands on a video camera. The beat on the street

The beat on the street Text and photos by Rasdian A. Vadin Historic Jl. Braga in Bandung is known today for its faded glory, home to dusty antique shops and quaint cafes, a brief stop on the tourist map but no longer a happening place. Bandung Music Day, held for the second time last week, was meant to bring a thoroughly modern feel to the street. Inspired by the French summer music festival Fete de la Musique, the day and the music were meant for all to enjoy.
