Maya wins Thamrin-Samsung Cup

JAKARTA: Maya Rosa Stefanie lived up to her status as the top
seed, winning the Thamrin-Samsung Cup international junior tennis
tournament here on Saturday.

The 17-year-old overcame early jitters to beat fellow
Indonesian and defending champion Septi Mende 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 in
the final at the Hilton Executive Tennis Courts.

Septi overcame her loss in the singles event to win the girls'
doubles title with Sandy Gumulya. They defeated Maya/Ayu Fani
Damayanti 6-4, 6-3 in the final.

The boys' singles and doubles finals will be played on Sunday,
with Al Imron facing Imanuel Prakosa in the singles. -- JP
